Trout River Lodge

Trout River Lodge

These two luxurious lodges sit on the banks of the River Teign as it flows and tumbles on its way downstream from Fingle Bridge. The setting here in Clifford Bridge Park - awarded a gold David Bellamy Conservation Award - is idyllic and perfect for those who want to relax and enjoy the peace and seclusion of this virtually undiscovered part of the Dartmoor National Park. Clifford Bridge Park has only 19 privately owned lodges leaving acres of room for the abundant wildlife and a flower meadow. Numerous walks are possible directly from the lodges, upstream to Fingle Bridge & Castle Drogo or downstream to Steps Bridge and Dunsford Nature Reserve, through woods and gorges and along riverside paths. Bird lovers will enjoy seeing the buzzards soaring overhead or perching on a branch by the river, or spotting heron, dippers and other woodland birds. You may even see a kingfisher or an elusive otter, or fallow deer grazing on the meadow!

Although situated in this perfect setting away from it all the lodges are only 3 miles from the A30 junction at Cheriton Bishop making access from all parts of the country easy. Exeter is about 20 minutes away. The beautiful Dartmoor towns of Chagford and Moretonhampstead are close by in the other direction. Here you can find shops, banks, pubs and also doctors, dentist, vet and a small hospital. Nearby the High Moors and Tors are waiting to be explored along with Widecombe-in-the-Moor, Lustleigh, Dartmeet and Postbridge. Trout fishing, pony-trekking and golf are all available locally.

NB: Clifford Bridge Park is proud of its conservation award and the environmentally friendly way it is managed. Please note water is drawn from a private bore-hole and waste is treated naturally in a bio-sewage treatment plant. Because of this only the cleaning materials supplied can be used. The use of others, such as bleach, would destroy the delicate balance of the system and prevent it from working.
